Mark Vermylen has created the Bread ‘n Butter paddle for House Pickleball, a contribution that helps players everywhere up their game. He wanted to see a new and exciting game to play, far from satisfied with the look of the dominant brands they were witnessing on local courts. As a 27 year-old interested in Pickleball, Mark found the legacy brands all catered towards older players, with whom the game had become so popular with originally. Mark sought to create a brand that would resonate with Gen-Z and younger millennials. The team decided to take matters into their own hands and design a new paddle from the ground up. The endeavor led to the benefit of its ecstatic clients swearing by the efficacy and style upgrading their play.
Vermylen was born and raised in Ridgewood, NJ, as the oldest of five. His journey took him to Georgetown University, graduating in 2018 with a degree in political science. After three years working in tech sales, he dove right into the process of developing his own pickleball paddle company. Now, he turns the love he had for tennis during his childhood into products and experiences enthusiasts insist on using when they play their favorite sport. Mark felt that if he was going to create & sell Pickleball paddles, he owed it to the community to organize games and encourage new players to come try this incredible sport. So that’s exactly what he did. By harnessing the power of social media, Mark has been hosting the locally-famous “House Rallies” for over 1 year now. The friendships and connections made at these games is just as valuable as the exercise.
His pickleball passion developed over time. He chose to leave sales and pursue the reconstruction of his social life after the pandemic. Being in the city, there was an excellent option available that sat opposed to the normal customs of getting inebriated every weekend. He chose pickleball as a hobby that could effectively enhance his lifestyle, embracing the sport as a healthy choice for physical and social development. Instead of wasting money at the bar, he met new people and hung out with friends while engaging in a highly beneficial practice.
Owning his own business was always Mark’s dream, and his excitement about actualizing that goal is infectious. He is trying to get as many people as possible to play a fantastic sport that does not get enough mainstream attention. Pickleball gives people a place to get some cathartic exercise and gives them a break from the typical dull swaths of time daily life can bring.
House Pickleball is more than your average company. It is a community-driven brand housed in New York City that acts as the finest proprietor of high-quality paddles in the country. The paddles are lightweight and comfortable to hold, helping players have excellent control and power on the pickleball court. These paddles have quickly become a fan favorite.
The paddles have become a fan favorite to their bold and classic design. Many have commented on just one word when asked about the aesthetic of the classic green & white paddle:”Wimbledon”.
