It strengthened his understanding of NLP, deepened his appreciation for applied machine learning, and instilled in him a strong belief in mission-oriented innovation. It also became clear to him that impactful technology doesn’t always originate from large corporations. It often begins in startups with forward-thinking and purpose-driven visions.

Exploring Cloud-Scale AI and Rediscovering Purpose

In 2022, Tianyang Chen joined Microsoft’s Azure division to explore how large-scale cloud infrastructure could enable more efficient and smarter software systems. At Azure, he observed firsthand the potential of cloud platforms in supporting scalable AI services.

That same year, the release of ChatGPT sparked renewed inspiration. Fascinated by the rapid development of generative AI, Tianyang Chen immersed himself in research, participating in Kaggle competitions, publishing papers, and exploring AI applications in fields like finance, healthcare, and beyond.
