As the visionary behind Devil May Cry Tattoo, Devin specializes in Neo-Noir, Blackwork, Sigil Craft, Cyber Sigilism, and Engraver-style designs. His style draws from ancient mythologies, spiritual symbolism, and the arcane—each piece an echo of something deeper. “I didn’t choose tattooing,” he says. “Tattooing chose me.” And over the course of almost a decade, Devin has answered that call with a unique fusion of creativity, spirituality, and reverence for the craft.
It All Begins with a Conversation
Devin’s creative process is anything but one-size-fits-all. Whether a client is drawn to one of his original flash designs or seeking a custom piece, every tattoo begins with intention and connection.
“The consultation is absolutely key,” Devin explains. “Through it, I’m not just understanding the tattoo my client wants—I’m trying to understand who they are.” This connection allows him to dive beneath the surface. He often reviews clients’ social media to pick up on visual patterns and aesthetic clues. “Sometimes I even nap while meditating on the client and the conversation. Our subconscious minds are powerful tools—I use mine as much as possible.”
Every new inquiry begins with a four-part question: What’s your tattoo idea? Do you have any references? What’s your availability? And what’s your budget? Asking about the budget isn’t just practical—it’s part of Devin’s mission to make his work accessible. “If something’s beyond someone’s price point, I’ll offer payment plans or alternative designs. I want people to get tattooed by me without barriers.”
Designing with Purpose
When it comes to design, Devin balances his signature style with a deep respect for his client’s vision. “Luckily, most people who come to me are already aligned with my aesthetic. But I treat every tattoo as a collaboration. It only exists on skin once the client gives a full, resounding yes.”
His methods are fluid—sometimes he designs digitally, sometimes on paper, or even freehands directly onto the skin. “Some tattoos just form better in one medium than another,” he says.
But regardless of how it’s created, every tattoo carries purpose. Devin’s specialty—sigils—are more than decorative. “Sigilism is the magical practice of creating symbols to represent an outcome, deity, or source of empowerment,” he explains. “Cybersigilism is the modern evolution of that, merging arcane symbols with futuristic design. What matters most is that the symbol holds power and meaning for the wearer.”
A Ritual, Not Just a Session
Devin doesn’t just prepare for a session—he prepares a space. Hours before a client arrives, he deep cleans his studio with medical-grade disinfectant. Then, with the stencil prepped, he turns inward.
“I meditate and visualize the tattoo, focusing on my intention,” he says. “Afterward, I do some self-care while waiting for the client. It helps me ground and show up fully for the experience.”
That mindfulness extends into the session itself. Scented candles create a calming atmosphere, palo santo is used to cleanse the energy, and music plays not just to fill the space, but to pace the rhythm of the needle. “Everything is intentional—from the energy of the space to the pace of the machine,” Devin notes.
Ink as Transformation
What sets Devin apart isn’t just the aesthetic—it’s the energy. His tattoos are more than art; they’re transformational markers. “I believe I have to remove my own palette and preferences to meet my client’s needs. That’s how you create something that really resonates.”
