The Green Show Sets the Bar High at New York Fashion Week with a Vision for Global Expansion

As the curtain fell on this year’s New York Fashion Week, The Green Show stood out not just for its commitment to sustainability but for setting a precedent in how fashion can harmonize with global cultural movements. Held in the spacious environs of Mastercard’s tech hub in New York City, The Green Show fused cutting-edge style with impassioned calls for environmental and ethical consciousness.

This season’s highlight was the debut of KÍLÈNTÁR’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection “Mama Ìbẹ́ta,” an homage to the rich tapestry of African craftsmanship. Michelle Adepoju, Founder & Creative Director of KÍLÈNTÁR, expressed her vision: “As we continue to grow, my commitment remains steadfast: to uplift and empower the women who bring our visions to life, to maintain ethical practices in everything we do, and to create collections that are as meaningful as they are beautiful.” The collection showcased garments handwoven by the skilled women of Burkina Faso, using sustainable dyes, and featured vibrant contributions from Nigerian female dyers and beaders, weaving a narrative of culture, heritage, and sustainability.

The runway was complemented by accessories from OMÔL, with hair & makeup provided by Romana New York and nail art by Bernadette Thompson, encapsulating a vision of sustainable luxury that resonated deeply with the audience.

The Green Show also hosted a series of panels that delved into the three pillars of sustainability: environmental, social, and economic impacts. Moderated by Jan Roessner, CEO of One Earth Rising, the panels featured a cadre of experts including Sergeant Johnny James Hines III from the NYC Police Department, Peter Rose from Hydro Quebec, and Ellen Jackowski, the Chief Sustainability Officer at Mastercard, who discussed actionable solutions and strategies for a sustainable future across industries.

The festivities concluded with an afterparty on the rooftop terrace, where guests were treated to breathtaking city views and a selection of sustainable, locally-sourced cuisine provided by DIG. The evening was further enhanced by exclusive Aupale Vodka cocktails and Rosaluna Mezcal, embodying the night’s theme of sustainable indulgence.
