The acting career is full of sacrifices and many failed attempts in order to eventually achieve success; however, small triumphs can be attained along the way, which get you closer to your main goal. Marianna Cossu currently finds herself in a beautiful moment in her career in which she can look back and reflect on what she has achieved, yet also look ahead and set her goals for the future.

   The Italian actress has worked in important companies in Europe and more recently in America, where she has managed to earn a spot in the art scene. At 13, she got the lead role of Snowball in “Animal Farm” from George Orwell, and after receiving applause from more than 400 people, she realized that the theater was where she belonged. That is how the opportunity of being on camera with “Sea” came to be. This had special meaning for her because aside from it being her first time on film, it was done in Santa Marguerita Ligure, near Portofino. In her words, “Not only could I dive into the world of script, but also breathe the same Mediterranean air that inspired me on my island of Sardignia from when I was a child. I got great satisfaction from this project, I received very positive feedback from members of the industry when it premiered. No one could believe it was my first on-camera experience.”

   She kept persevering and managed to take part in the very famous theater company from Milano, “Pacta dei teatri Salone,” which operates in the theater of the same name, where she directly collaborated with Annig Raimondi and had the opportunity to be alongside huge Italian celebrities within the acting and music industries like Maria Eugenia D’aquino, Riccardo Magherini, Antonio Rosti, Paolo Bignamini, Franco Finocchiaro, Maurizio Pisati, Anna Maria Musajo, Pierluigi Ferrari, among many others. Marianna became a favorite among critics and the press of the city.

   She outgrew her native Italy and decided to dream big, which is why she is moving to New York after being admitted into the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in the same city, complementing her art with innovative techniques. When she finished the program, she was considered “an excellence to be welcomed into the acting society.” That is when the academy put her in touch with “incredible actors and directors like Maggie Low, member of the actors’ studio, David Dean Bottrell and Dina Vovsi, who directed her in the production of “The Three Sisters” by Chekhov in the leading role of “Masha.”

   Another one of Marianna’s big acquisitions has been the lead role of “Eurydice” by Sarah Ruhl, under the direction of Michael Toomey, a member of the acclaimed “Shakespeare and Company” in Lenox, Massachusetts. This project was an emotional journey that made her go the extra mile as an actress. “My whole heart was devoted to this play as well as my personal fears, traumas, dreams, and memories. Every step forward was a discovery as I was relearning how to walk and talk. It was magical. This show gave me the opportunity to fully grow my identity as an artist and learn more about myself.”

   Marianna has pursued her childhood dream and has shown her strength and perseverance in her passion for acting, and her history shows that there are no barriers, be it distance or language, that may prevent you from achieving what you set your mind to. In her words: “The COVID pandemic didn’t make me back up even when it was very hard. I strengthened my profile as a fighter, one who never gives up but keeps fighting and fueling her tank.”
