Rising from Hard Beginnings: Mexican Immigrant Benny Ulloa Scales Family Business into a Multiunit Restaurant Chain

Given the right amount of dedication, perseverance, and passion, almost anyone can carve a niche for themselves and build a path towards success. After all, victories are better achieved when one ultimately sets their eyes on the prize. However, success does not happen overnight. Instead, it is a long and arduous process that requires a success-enabling disposition and the resilience and patience to stay in the game, no matter how difficult the path may become. This journey is familiar to serial entrepreneur and restaurnateur Benny Ulloa.

Hailing from Mexico, Benny Ulloa is a visionary who has been able to take advantage of American opportunities to scale his family’s over-four-decades-old Mexican restaurant business into a multi-million dollar corporation. Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, Benny was surrounded by people with great work tactics that have been handed down from generation to generation.

However, rather than settle into his position as the heir to a successful venture, Benny understood that the possibility of growth was limitless. So he took a futuristic approach to garner knowledge and skills that earmark him as a connoisseur in the food industry. With over twenty years of experience in the food industry, Benny Ulloa has founded over twenty restaurants throughout his career.

Additionally, this trailblazing entrepreneur is the originator and owner of UC Hospitality Group, UC Management LLC, Emiliano’s Mexican Restaurant, with six locations throughout Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas with plans to launch more locations through the Northeast. He is also the owner of UC Realty LLC—a real estate company currently consisting of forty rentals and investment properties throughout the Pittsburgh area.

After successfully dominating the Mexican food industry, Benny has now diversified his business to include commercial real estate, a luxury car rental business, and talent recruitment agencies, UC Entertainment LLC and d/b/a Elite Entertainment tasked with bringing talented musical artists to Pittsburgh.

Benny attributes his resilient spirit and entrepreneurial skills to his family for teaching him the intricacies of running a successful enterprise, which have helped him develop his character and willingness never to quit. He now applies this winning principle to help aspiring artists get stellar results in their endeavors.

In an interview, Benny shared the motivation behind his brand. He said, “I wanted to be a role model to entrepreneurs and youth, who have looked at inspiration from the wrong outlets over the years. I want to show positivity, light, love, and shed light on the family, inspiring them that reaching your goals takes hard work and effort and choosing trustworthy partnerships.”

In the coming years, Benny Ulloa wants to continue expanding his brand nationwide while inspiring other young people to aim high and reach for their dreams regardless of the challenges.

How Underdog Jared Howell Built a Thriving Streetwear Brand With Zero Design Experience

One for the underdogs – Jared Howell proved even the most inexperienced designers and entrepreneurs can succeed in the fashion industry. Building a thriving brand from the ground up, Jared demonstrated great tenacity and talent inspiring others to also take their leaps of faith.

Jared is a 27-year-old rising entrepreneur from Seattle, Washington. Formerly one of the underdogs, Jared now proudly stands as one of the most promising, thriving entrepreneurs of his generation with his rapidly-growing streetwear brand called Left Coast Cartel Streetwear. Jared built his company to prove that everyone has a fair chance at success, and the challenges one faces along the way make the journey even more meaningful.

Jared started his journey a little over two years ago for fun. He shared that he was making designs at one of the most detrimental times of his life, and building his streetwear brand was what pushed him to continually strive for better days. Jared eventually developed a passion for his new venture, and he has not turned back from fashion and design ever since.

Left Coast Cartel Streetwear is one of the most unique and empowering streetwear brands in the market today. Established at the height of the pandemic, the brand showcased the photoshop skills Jared worked so hard to learn. Spending countless hours to produce stunning designs, the founder successfully captured his target market. Eventually, he met a talented illustrator from Serbia named Dragan Lukovik, who shared the same passion for design but had no resources to start his own brand.

“I believe that what you wear is a representation of who you are,” Jared shared. Hence, he made designs that could radiate the unique personalities of the people wearing them every day. The entrepreneur aims for his clothes to be symbolic of where people currently are in their lives and where they wish to be, allowing the fashionable pieces to speak for themselves and give the world a hint as to who is wearing them.

Asked why he wanted to take a more personal approach to streetwear, Jared said that he wanted to revolutionize streetwear by producing clothes that are not only captivating and comfortable but strong enough to scream authenticity and narratives. “What you put out in the world, whether you believe it or not, matters,” he said.

Launching a brand in the fashion industry is not an easy pursuit. Still, Jared came out victorious because of his unrivaled work ethic and dedication to become a household name. He had his fair share of roadblocks but shares that it is always that fighting spirit and positive attitude that could make or break one’s journey.

“Things that are great always start with just one person’s idea and just spread from there. If I had a message to give to the world, it would be, ‘there are no limits to life. You’re able to obtain whatever it is in life. But you must put away all the excuses and really invest in yourself. Invest in being a lifelong student. Every day you must work towards your vision. When you do, you start gaining momentum and confidence. You will catch breaks; you will get those unexpected gigs you’d hope for,” said Jared.

Jared shared one note he wants to share with other aspiring entrepreneurs: “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”

Investor Zach Witkoff Gives Us A Glimpse Into The Future Of Real Estate

By Nikki Beseeti

Every piece of human creation we see around us results from an idea that found the backup for its development. Great investors are not only those who can see how something will profit but also how it will advance civilization. Connectors are essential elements for every powerful concept to see the light; they have the perspective to see where things match.

Real estate is one of the main pillars of the economy. Its global market size currently stands at close to 10 trillion USD. However, it’s not evolving as fast as it could, according to investor Zach Witkoff. “Real estate is a business that hasn’t innovated very much over the past fifty or sixty years, whereas you’ve seen innovation in almost every other industry,” says Witkoff. “It’s only a matter of time before that innovation occurs. I think we’re seeing it today, and that’s what we’re trying to capitalize on.” He commented.

And he knows what he’s talking about: the Witkoff family has been in the construction business for 35. Zach himself has been working on construction sites with his father, Steven Witkoff since he was 15. Since he attended The University of Miami’s Business School—which he graduated top of his class—the young investor has developed an interest in technology and what it can do to disrupt the real estate industry. Inspired by that, he opened Witkoff Capital, the family office he also presides. His goal is to extend the family’s assets towards technology and help innovative ideas find their way into construction.

The Witkoff Group was founded by Steven Witkoff in the late 90s and has grown to become one of the most notable real estate firms. The company is behind some of the most remarkable hospitality projects, including the West Hollywood Edition, The Times Square Edition, and The Public Hotel in New York City. They are currently working on Miami’s most significant development project. The group’s vision is to build not only structures but also relationships and communities. “We build experiences at Witkoff. We think about the whole picture. We create full ecosystems where people don’t have to leave the property if they don’t want to.” Said the younger Witkoff.

Through Witkoff Capital, Zach wants to help innovative technologies gain traction by integrating them into their portfolio and showing them to associates. The investor knows how to identify disruptive ideas and their place in the market. “You see homes being built with 3D printers, which is fascinating. Now you can construct with robotics. These are all the kinds of things that I’m looking at.” He reveals. Built Technologies, a construction finance platform, is among the businesses that have benefitted from Witkoff’s approach. The family office was instrumental in helping the company raise its second round and go from a USD 300 million valuation to its current USD 1.5 billion.

Agile investors like Zach Witkoff are giving us a glimpse into the future. The opportunities to evolve the real estate industry are wide open.

“I feel privileged to get paid to do what I love and love what I do,” shares Briana. “I encourage others to work smarter, not harder—utilize their gifts and work ethics, then create a brand.” Briana shares that one key to her success has been her self-confidence. “That’s what makes BrooklynBabyBri me. Respectfully and I’ll always be me through all seasons. Unapologetically! I hope others will do the same.

As Briana, a.k.a. BrooklynBabyBri, reflects back on how far she has come, she has mentors and loved ones to thank. But she maintains how success must start with one’s belief and mindset. She hopes her book, channels, and life will speak those volumes to people around her.

8 Careers You Can Pursue with a Doctorate in Education

When most professionals seek to make a change in their career path or are trying to advance in their current position, they decide to further their education in their field of study. Professionals who work in the education industry are no exception.

If you work in the education industry, for most positions you will need at least a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree. However, as the industry grows, and more positions become available, the competition for higher education leadership positions will increase as well. That is why most educators who are seeking a change in their career or looking to advance in their current position, turn to pursuing a Doctor of Education Degree (EdD).

Pursuing a Doctor of Education Degree on a college campus or an online Doctor of Education program can open the door to many job opportunities for education professionals. Having this advanced degree will help to obtain both academic based careers in higher education leadership and non-academic careers. You’re probably wondering, what can I do with a Doctorate in Education? Let’s take a closer look at 8 careers you can pursue with a Doctorate in Education.

Academic Positions

A School Superintendent has various academic duties including budgeting, creating curriculum, and monitoring school committees and school boards. According to Best Accredited Colleges, “there will be average job growth of around 4% for elementary and secondary school education administrators between 2019 and 2029.” This means that over the next ten years, these positions will remain competitive. That is why pursuing a Doctor of Education Degree is important, to put yourself ahead of others.

2. College Professor

Many education professionals stay at the elementary through high school level during their careers because advancing to a college professor position typically requires a Doctor of Education Degree. 5. Provost

Provosts are usually second-in-command, below the college president and above the academic dean. Just like any other higher education leadership position, there is a competitive job market for Provost positions. Having a Doctor of Education Degree is almost always a requirement when applying for an open position.

Non-Academic Careers

For education professionals who want to advance their career, but not hold a position directly related to teaching, there are other non-academic careers available. However, the competition for these positions is still very high, which is why having a Doctor of Education Degree can put you at an advantage.

6. Chief Learning Officer

Chief Learning Officers are responsible for the training and development of employees in a company or organization. This position is usually an extension of the human resources department. To become an Education Policy Analyst, many companies will require a Doctor of Education Degree.

8. Education Consultant

Education consultants also work with education policies and provide input into strategies, techniques, and the technology behind the policies. As an Education Consultant, you may hold a position working with families, school boards, government, educational institutions, and corporate companies.

Do these higher education leadership or non-academic positions sound like a career path you may be interested in? If you are a current education professional or are looking to change your career field to education, the competitive market is something to take into consideration.

To present yourself as a qualified applicant for these positions and have a competitive edge among other candidates, it is very important to pursue your Doctorate in Education. You can enroll in either an online Doctor of Education Degree or an on-campus doctorate program. Whichever you decide, your first step should be figuring out which position your end goal is. Then, start researching which schools and Doctor of Education programs you should enroll in to pursue your higher education leadership goals.
