A lot of money is a new level of problems that you don’t even know about, earning 150, 200, or 300 thousand rubles (up to $5000). I can see this in our clients who buy real estate. Big money doesn’t always bring happiness.”

One Day: Fostering Unity by Questioning Beliefs and Seeking Common Ground

Animosities between factions have existed for millenia, most (perhaps all) of which aren’t rooted in any real principles but in ideas and opinions passed down through the generations. Looking to cultivate cooperation by questioning the assumptions of previous generations and by seeking common ground instead of focusing on our differences, Abram Siegel-Rivers established One Day, a non-profit organization and platform that aims to unify communities and promulgate the idea that now is the perfect opportunity to reshape our world.

Over the past two years One Day has created a non-judgmental, loving space, the One Day Virtual Stage, where guests come to share the wisdom and lessons they have learned through (what is often felt as) traumatic experience. These lessons have become the building blocks for all the books, workshops, and festivals that One Day has set into motion. The organization encourages everyone to examine their deep-rooted beliefs and to take responsibility for the consequences of those assumptions. Abram points out that these assumptions get passed down from generation to generation through conversations like; “You can never trust  a Democrat/Republican!”, “You won’t be happy until you have a good job.” and “Pakistanis and Indians will never get along!”. He states, “We repeat these conversations to ourselves, and they become our beliefs. Our beliefs become echo chambers which then become self-fulfilling prophecies. One Day has announced its first book titled Together We Rise: Unleash Your Gifts and Light Up The World, slated for release in the second quarter of 2022. The book is a compilation of short experiences from authors worldwide demonstrating the power of transforming trauma into purpose. A companion workbook that contains a series of questions and exercises for each experience will also be available for those who want to experience these lessons themselves. The proceeds will be used to fund projects championed by One Day leaders around the world. Upcoming projects include commissioning a mural at an art high school in Nashville, Tennessee as well as facilitating additional leadership and conflict resolution training for refugees in Kakuma and Kalobeyei, Kenya.

Some of the other projects they hope to facilitate through One Day trained leaders include shared neighborhood meals and block parties dedicated to gratitude and collaboration, community-sourced art projects that point to the power of loving co-creation and providing sustainable and comfortable shelter, food, water, internet technologies, and other resources to refugees and other homeless persons. Their most ambitious goal though might be to create a new global holiday. Abram wants to coordinate festivals in cities across the world each year to celebrate what’s possible when communities embrace unity and creativity while encouraging neighbors to look for common ground instead of focusing on their differences.

Anjeza Fuses Urban and Flamenco Music Styles with Powerful Vocals

“It is not what happens to you but how you react to it that matters.”

Anjeza is an impressive artist that exemplifies victory over defeat. She’s an artist who was born and raised in a godless communist country where a voice was a curse and dreams were destined to be doomed. Unable to express without getting herself and family in trouble, she chose to dive into reading, writing, and dancing. They were safe enough choices as long as no one saw them. As the political situation was changing in her country, so did Anjeza’s dreams. The chaos of political drama came with an explosion of hopes for many people. Leaving her country and heading to Greece was the beginning of her artistic journey celebrating freedom.

Trips to Italy, Germany, Greece, dancing and singing—while searching her identity underlined her new nomad journey. Anjeza experienced various trial and errors, experiences, choices—while diving in fully and exiting rapidly.

Her eventual major transition to the United States came with clarity and confusion, freedom to express, she says that she has always wanted that. Yet, she experienced a cultural shock of connection among a melting pot of cultures. After an average of 15 changed jobs in four years and two college degrees, she then fully focused on music and acting. Each year discovering something new, each year searching for her identity.

Shifting from one genre to the next, one thing was consistent, the message in her music was powerful.

Be Rational

While it’s common to get all panicky and scared when you experience such huge competition, she suggests writing down the personal definition of “being a professional”, adding the skills needed to achieve that professional goal and then prioritising learning them with the available avenues.

She used Pareto Law (20% effort which will give you 80% of results) if you have too many items on your list.

Skills Are Your Best Friend

One of the imperative yet unnoticed aspects is upgrading skills. Aina says, “I have struggled to see the reality of progress and importance of skill set in my early career. I discovered that a skillset is more than a degree or a certificate and, an ideally honed skill can land you to your dream job in no time.” Her coaching revolves around improving skills that prepare the coaches for the future.

Aina suggests, instead of relying on degrees and certificates, we must lean on skills like negotiating small things, practising empathy and compassion and trying to understand situations rather than misinterpreting or judging them.

Leaders Are Self-Aware

We are currently in the middle of the competition and recovering industries. Aina believes, holding on to the power of self-awareness and honesty with yourself are the propellers to push you ahead as a leader.

She says, “To be great leaders, we need to learn to manage ourselves first and then only we’ll be able to manage our teams and organizations.” Her coaching shows you ways to prepare for the leadership roles in tech while leaving no aspect on the table.

Entertainment Executive Michael Dockery Seeks to End Gun Violence through Stomp the City

The film is executive produced by Emmy Award winner Sam Heskell who’s also the chair and president of Magnolia Hill Productions at Warner Bros. Some of the notable names that feature in the film include Bellamy Young, Ben Lawson, and Logan Shroyer. Richard Thomas, the original John Boy narrates the film while music is created by seven-time Grammy Award winners Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. The duo has worked with Kathy Ireland on other projects, especially their recent album release titled Blackbird: Lennon-McCartney Icons which earned them a spot on the Billboard charts after more than 35 years of being absent.
