Sometimes, struggles are not entirely doom and gloom. Some good comes out of them, and in the case of Isaac Lee Montgomery, he’s driving a whole conversation and championing a never-achieved-before feat in the film industry.

Growing up diagnosed with a special type of autism, also called Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (PDD NOS) at four, into a film student and American Sign Language enthusiast is the springboard that lurched Isaac Montgomery into his current journey. Isaac is studying film and media arts at Cleveland State University while working on a pitch for a cartoon centered on a deaf main character.

While his main objective was to major in acting, he had been told time and time again that his creative ideas are remarkable. This prompted him to pursue both acting and directing in order to get his show noticed at a major production studio. With his college graduation just around the corner in about a year, Isaac is working hard and fast at kickstarting an animated pitch. He presently combines his college education with three jobs as a delivery driver, a restaurant host, and a secretary at a testing center.

He is also charting a course for himself as he identifies as a transgender male (female to male). He is scheduled to have masculinization surgery later this month. He has set a goal to be one of the first FTM trans creators for an animated series. 

His animated series is centered on a deaf girl who moves into a new town and finds a mysterious object that takes her to another world where she lives out her mother’s past. Isaac is working on developing the character and building a world for the characters. “I aim to educate people on the beauty of ASL (and other forms of sign language like Black Sign Langauge and British Sign Language) and how just because someone is deaf does not mean they are also human too. My show is different due to how my main character is POC and deaf, and one of my key characters is transgender,” he explained.

Isaac wants to create a show that both children and adults can enjoy as the theme touches on salient societal issues like racism, identity, depression, dysphoria, etc. He hopes a major studio like Nickelodeon, Disney, or Netflix will pick up the pilot and order an entire season. “I’m taking my time with creating the perfect pilot. I want to get it right. I want to be accurate, I want feedback on what to improve on for the better and eventually be able to create the pitch one way or the other,” he said.

Owing to the self-will to accomplish tasks and never rest until he gets it done, Isaac is forging ahead full-throttle in pursuit of his dreams. He sees himself working with major companies like MTV, Netflix, A24, or even Disney+ as a creator and actor. He intends to create unique stories from perspectives that many creators aren’t currently exploring to educate and take risks. Talking about how imperfect he is as a creator, he said, “I’m definitely going to mess up, get something wrong, and feel like the world is putting a gun to my head, but I want to try to create something beneficial for animated media.”

Recently, he released his new track entitled “We Outside,” which is available for streaming on SoundCloud.

“I just want to be in a better position in five years so that I can give my children the life they deserve,” Sliickk shared.

Since emerging as one of the most sought-after musicians of the trade, Dj Sliickk continues to take the industry by storm. Through his story, he hopes to inspire many hopefuls to chase their dreams and keep their faith.

The brutal battering that 2020 brought on the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic had all sorts of adverse effects on people. Yet, despite all the hurt and pain, some good came out of it. It was during this time, for instance, that the brand J. Star came to life. Since then, the artist and songwriter has been making rounds and inspiring people worldwide. 

Jeff Dunn, aka J. Star, is an artist who first started as a cover performer. Then, he would create his renditions of some of today’s most popular tracks and upload them on YouTube. But with time, the artist started diving into other artistic expressions, including writing storyline videos. After realizing that every song has a basic story structure, he decided to start writing his own music to have better control over his vision for a musical experience. From then on, J. Star began coming to life as a brand. 

The name J. Star came to Jeff a while back, but he didn’t decide to use it as a full-blown identity until the start of 2021. After a year of lockdowns and pandemic crises, the artist introduced the new persona to the world. It’s been all uphill from there. Some of J. Star’s big track hits include Secret Dreams and Cancer. The former was his first-ever released original track, which would gain the praise of country singers and YouTube influencers. The song would come out on VRadio Nashville, garnering national attention and making it on the weekly top forty countdowns. It hit number twenty-four on its first week and made it to the ninth spot. 

One of J. Star’s most significant musical breaks came next as he would cross paths with Don P, a well-known music producer. It was with the music executive that the artist worked on and recorded Cancer. The second song would enter the top forty list again and peak at the number one spot. J. Star would then record many more materials with Don P, including songs like The Weight of the World, And the Sun Will Rise Again, Baby Girl, I Know You Heard It All Before, Lies, How Does It Feel, and many more.

Beyond the music, J. Star is a character who loves being around people. “I love to treat people with respect and putting others first before myself,” shares the artist. “Because of all the hate in this world, I want to use my music to help inspire a change and educate people to learn how to love each other.” The artist carries with him the motivation to keep going and strive for greatness with every new song, project, or show.

1. Star will be performing in his first headlining show on August 7th, Saturday at the Rusty Nail in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. After that, he looks forward to doing more live shows before crowds again and has plans on re-recording Cancer. All in all, the musician and singer hopes that his music will be a beacon of hope for those who have lost all sense of hope because of life’s challenges.
