2nd Chance Saves Lives: Bringing Light and Hope to Underprivileged People

2nd Chance Saves Lives is an organization and a production company that focuses on providing help and assistance to others. It was founded in 2014 with a straightforward but meaningful mission—to help fallen celebrities get a second chance. Since then, the venture has come a long way and has gone on to help various individuals from all walks of life.

The institution was born out of its founder Paul Nutall’s own encounter with tragic events that he had to endure throughout his life. He knew how it felt to be down and out. Inspired to be the change he wants to see in the world, the visionary saw an opportunity to lend a helping hand by offering others a shot at health and happiness to those who needed it most. It aspires to bring relief to those who seem to have lost all hope.

In 2016, he met his wife, Tiffany Nutall, and she proposed the idea to elevate and expand its concept by extending help to the rest of the world and not just celebrities in Hollywood. This time, they wanted to bring a second chance to the masses, as they believed everyone deserves a shot at redemption. Not long after, the couple founded and produced the very first episode of their flagship TV show, 2nd Chance Saves Lives TV.

The TV show was instrumental in helping the cause gain traction as it began to attract a larger and wider audience. It has helped put a spotlight on the hardships and challenges that a lot of people are facing. More importantly, it served as an avenue to amplify the voice of these underprivileged individuals and initiated the much-needed conversation on how society can produce long-term solutions to overcome these issues.

Their spin-off show, 2nd Chance Saves Forgotten Prisoners, on the other hand, is about individuals who are wrongfully accused of crimes they did not commit. It aims to shed some light on the plight of many innocent people who are currently suffering behind bars.

What makes the company and the show special is that it also shares the story of inspirational individuals who were formerly struggling but were able to overcome the adversities and have now become successful in their own way. By doing this, it is able to bridge people who are in need with those who have the capacity to help them. It aims to show the world a glimpse of how a small act of kindness can positively impact the lives of many when collectively done by the global community. As a platform, it influenced and empowered society to help out one another and promoted the concept of paying it forward.

Fans and viewers should be on the lookout because the production company has big projects in store in the near future. Founders Paul and Tiffany Nutall plan on producing numerous other spin-off shows. They also envision franchising their show to every country in the world; that way, more people can join in on the movement and are able to help their countrymen.

World Renowned Culinary Master Misael Guerrero Shares His Personal Story of Struggle and Eventual Success

They say the United States is the land of opportunity, and that much is true given that an individual focuses their time and energy into their passion. Misael Guerrero had always had a talent for gastronomy. His passion for the culinary arts was such a big part of him that he couldn’t ever let it go. That’s why when he finally landed in the United States, he vowed to himself to pursue his dreams and never let any opportunity get past him.

“I remember my arrival in the United States in July 2007, specifically in the state of California. In those times, like many who came to this country, I was in search of better opportunities, so I had to start from scratch,” said Mr. Guerrero. So he worked in different jobs, with each of them having him shoulder different responsibilities.

Fortunately, these tasks were the stepping stones that he took to develop himself and eventually formulate the prospects of his future business, his true passion, “La Cocina.” Thus, Mr. Guerrero started making tamales and selling them from house to house and outside of established businesses. However, this act seemed to have been causing problems to the city because of the laws imposed in the state of California.

To avoid any major consequences, Mr. Guerrero decided to pivot towards a different approach, but still closely related to his passion for creating and serving food. In 2010, he decided to prepare his garage in Fontana to start selling sushi and seafood. By then, he had already won the hearts of a loyal clientele who supported his venture through and through. His patrons were captivated by the taste and flavor of Sinaloa that has always characterized his signature dishes.

Eventually, his small business turned into a massive company where culture, food, and tradition were qualities that dominated every single day. Due to the staggering amount of new clients they had, it became increasingly difficult to meet the needs of each and every one of them. So Mr. Guerrero decided to invest his savings into a small establishment in the city of Rialto, which was also aimed at selling sushi and Sinaloa-style food.

Thus, Culichitown was born. His own restaurant paid tribute to the Culichi people, who saw Mr. Guerrero grow, and ultimately inspired him to materialize his dream. After two successful years of personally working in Rialto, the store could no longer serve all its customers. By observing the influx of visitors from other cities in Southern California, Misael Guerrero knew that there was important popularity over their gastronomic offerings.

That is when the second branch in the City of Bell was established, and from then on, with the blessing of God, it allowed them to cover 20+ branches in total in different cities in Southern California and other states of the United States—generating direct jobs for more than 1,000 people and inspiring a greater growth of the brand at a national level.

In the near future, Misael Guerrero envisions himself building more businesses and creating a culinary empire. More importantly, he wants to generate more jobs for the community and help them gain some footing in these dark and trying times.

Ginni Saraswati: “All the positives that I’ve experienced as an LGBT woman out in the media drive home the fact that we are all human”

Every June, the world celebrates Pride. It’s a month filled with celebration, love, and appreciation for everyone living unashamedly as their true selves. It’s also a time we spotlight the phenomenal LGBT people living boldly and brightly.

New York-based Ginni Saraswati, CEO and founder of Ginni Media, is one person who integrates a life of joyful authenticity into her work. Ginni Media is a one-stop-shop podcast production company that offers just about everything you need to get a podcast up and running, from audio production, writing, marketing, distribution, and everything else in between. Ginni Media recently rebranded to put the company’s inclusive values front and center, introducing the tagline “made offbeat.” This new brand identity reflects their ambition to bring individuals and brands with untold, niche, or underserved stories to the mic.

As a gay, immigrant woman, Sri Lankan-born founder Ginni Saraswati’s upbringing would play a huge part in establishing this branding in her work world. “Growing up, I didn’t know that homosexuality was illegal anywhere – let alone the country that I was from. I did, however, get a sense that it was frowned upon,” she says. When Saraswati was four or five years old, after her family migrated from Sri Lanka to Australia, she saw something on TV related to the LGBTQ community. “One of my aunts said something like, ‘These people are disgusting.’ Even though I didn’t identify as gay yet, I remember thinking to myself, ‘Aren’t people, people? Why does who they love matter?’”

Even growing up in Australia, LGBTQ representation was not a regular part of her world. “If you’re a Sri Lankan girl, all the movies and TV shows that you watch, the women always end up in marriage to a man…I grew up with a sense that a woman loving another woman wasn’t necessarily welcomed in my culture.” However, after learning about the harsh penalties for homosexuality in her home country, Saraswati acknowledges the privilege that comes with being LGBT in Australia. There, she could step into her authentic identity.

Her first New York Pride experience in June 2015 – having been sent by her then broadcaster Joy 94.9 (Australia’s first LGBTQ radio station) – was an emotional one. “I remember stepping off the train and looking up at the Empire State Building, which was lit up with rainbow colors. In that moment, I felt so seen and heard,” she says. “Being in a place where you’re both seen and heard, and embraced for who you are, that’s magical to me. Magical because, combined with New York City’s creative energy, you’re given permission to be yourself and you negate the stress, anxiety and emotional toll of working hard to hide and not be yourself. It’s exhausting.” The opportunity to work with Joy 94.9 was a formative part of her coming out experience. “When I began hosting programs on Joy, I wasn’t completely out of the closet. I felt that if I were to host a show on Joy, that would officially ‘out’ me as an LGBTQ person. “However, that was the place I was able to finally step into who I am, literally find my voice, and use it.”

Now with a company of her own, diversity is at the heart of Ginni Media. With team members from more than 14 countries, the commitment to diversity is also reflected in the impressive roster of shows they produce: from shows about being transgender, to spirituality, to aging. “We need to be mindful and create space for meaningful community and diversity at work, even as a fully remote workplace. We have people from all colors of the rainbow, many languages, and cultures. It lays the foundation for people to show up authentically as they are.”

Being an out and proud woman in the media has been integral to finding her voice and place in the industry. “I think having representation and visibility is incredibly important to encourage others to step into their most authentic selves,” she says. “I bring this knowledge to my business as well. When people feel emotionally and/or physically unsafe, it impacts them and in turn, the whole culture of that organization. When an individual feels that way at work, can you imagine what their life must feel like outside of it? Just like how you bring your personality to work, you take work, and it’s environment home with you too.”

Podcasting has been Saraswati’s safe haven that not only lets her live as her authentic self, but encourages others to do the same. “I love the fact that when you listen to a podcast and a person shares their story or experience, there is a point of connection. It’s all about being able to relate to their human experience.” she says. “All the positives that I’ve experienced as an LGBT woman out in the media drive home the fact that we are all human…how we relate to one another, how we build relationships. That’s what life’s all about – and that’s the foundation of podcasting, too.”
