Nana Ponceleon is a full-time actress in New York City whose acting journey was anything but ordinary. She has always had a passion for acting, but it materialized later in her life.
She had the ideal and perfect life everyone dreams of. As a graduate of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Computer Science in New York City’s Pace University, she was mostly employed in sales. Eleven years of her corporate career were dedicated to Microsoft Venezuela, wherein she worked in corporate sales, mid-market, OEM, loyalty, and distribution channels among other departments.
When she mustered the courage to make a significant career change and live out her passion, she left Microsoft and ventured into freelance sales consulting. While engaging business clients, she would reserve time on the weekend to attend regular acting classes of a renowned actor, director, and teacher in Venezuela.
She later decided to come to New York and study acting at Stella Adler Studio of Acting and graduated with flying colors, doing better today as a working actress than many of her younger counterparts. Since then, she has performed in a principal role in different episodes of the well known Investigation Discovery show The Perfect Murder. She was hired by Columbia University to act in four episodes as a therapist who was helping grieving parents to cope with losing a child. Given the positive comments on her job, Columbia University hired her again to film eight more episodes.
One of her big acting projects is La Hora Cero (The Zero Hour), which garnered multiple local and international awards. This film is by Diego Velasco, a writer, and director who has worked with US national networks like MTC, TLC, Discovery, NBC, Spike, Disney, and CBS. HBO purchased this film and featured it for over a year. She played Karla, the nurse who took care of the lead actor’s daughter.
Another acting project she took part in was the award-winning film Let’s Play Dead Girl by Christian Moran. The film is based on a real-life story in which Consuelo was attacked by two of her best friends. She played Anna, Consuelo’s mother.
Other films in which she played the lead role are Cocktail Muerte, What Women Hide, Snow Fish, Clara, Beautiful Women Live at Night, They Die Lovely, What is Always There With Music, Dirty Laundry, and Girl Picnic. She also received supporting roles such as in 322 Jefferson, Choices, La Clase, A Gaze At The Sea, La Gringa, Quinta Planta, and The Cage.
Aside from acting, she is also involved in plays by writing, producing, co-directing, and starring in them. She starred in various theater plays such as Tales of Imaginary Birds, Clump 1, August Osage County, Paper Bell, A Bright Room Called Day, and Happy Unbirthday Marco Antonio.
Furthermore, she had lead roles in many commercials for various brand names such as Johnson and Johnson’s Zyrtec, Glamour Magazine, Clairol, Michelob, SafeAuto, Thrive NYC – City of New York, and many others.
For her upcoming projects, she plans to create Act Feminine, a show which envisions a world where men and women cooperate, collaborate, and co-create their shared, preferred world together. Here, she will emphasize the value of balancing the feminine energy and masculine energy present in every human being. And she will also be performing in an important off-broadway show, which was postponed till February 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
