In the world of the NBA at the moment, it’s the Raptors and every other team. Had they lost the game with Golden State Warriors, their ownership of the top spot on the NBA table would have been lost. But they won big time, giving them yet another glorious week at number one.
If they can continue at this pace, they just might be winners of the season’s league. They would have to work very hard though to retain the highly coveted position as the Warriors aren’t too far away in terms of points.
Here’s our ranking of the league’s top 30 teams:
- Phoenix Suns
With Devin Booker and De’Anthony Melton not in court, it’s difficult to get much from the team. The internal crises within the Phoenix Suns may also just have contributed to the club having a poor season so far.
- Chicago Bulls
Head coach Jim Boylen’s style of coaching may be the reason why the Bulls’ players haven’t been at their best. If they go on with their current tactic they just might get relegated.
- New York Knicks
The New York Knick side has lost five straight games. Tim Hardaway has joined Kyle Lowry in making an effort to make the defensive line stronger. This should help keep them from conceding.
- Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks may be down at the moment, but with promising players as John Collins and Trae Young, and what we’ve seen in the last few games, they definitely won’t stay down for long.
- Cleveland Cavaliers
With an impressive player like Tristan Thompson on their side, they sure would end the league in style.
- Washington Wizards
Washington has lost three straight games. Even with his bad left heel, John Wall has proved to be an indispensable part of the team, scoring 34 points and 13 assists in their game against Celtic.
- Orlando Magic
Orlando Magic have lost in three of their four games. And this can be traced to a 14.8 percent free-throw rate that ranks last in the NBA. Nikola Vucevic only needs to stop attempting less than three free throws per contest.
- Miami Heat
Justine Winslow seems to be in excellent shape, averaging 18.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists on 50.7 percent shooting over his last five games. The future seems bright for Miami Heat.
- Brooklyn Nets
Winning their game against the Sixers on Wednesday thanks to Spencer Dinwiddie’s career-high 39 points. With their recent win, this week turns out to be their most successful week of the year.
- Detroit Pistons
With Ish Smith not appearing in the last four games owing to a groin injury, things haven’t been good for Detroit. They have lost in their last six games.
- Portland Trail Blazers
Portland hasn’t been able to win on the road since the 20th of November. By adding a little pace to their offense, they sure should start seeing wins.
- New Orleans Pelicans
Anthony Davis has done well for his side, with 44 points and 18 rebounds on Wednesday. The Pels are definitely headed for a spot in the top ten.
- San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs seem to be doing well for themselves. All thanks to a defense that recently got back in form, Spurs just concluded their first rankings session with a winning record since October.
- Minnesota Timberwolves
It’s been a tough fight for the Timberwolves who recently lost to Portland, Golden State, and Sacramento. But they deserve some slack as they are still 9-7 with a plus-4.0 net rating since cutting ties with Jimmy Butler.
- Houston Rockets
On Thursday, James Hardens 50 point triple double feat provided Houston an amazing 126-111 win over the Lakers. This achievement stirs up hope in the Houston camp. An upswing is imminent.
- Utah Jazz
Their last eight games have put them in a 5-3 position. The Jazz has a serious issue with consistency, and if that’s not fixed in time they are bound to pay a huge price for that.
- Sacramento Kings
You’re shocked, right? But this is not a mistake. The Kings have done well to win five of their last six games.
- Charlotte Hornets
Even though the Hornets continue to own the league’s biggest negative discrepancy between actual and expected win totals, the amazing efforts of Tony Parker and Member Walker have earned the Hornets a place at the top half of our rankings.
- Memphis Grizzlies
With their top shooter down, Memphis hasn’t been as successful as they had been before Marc Gasol’s ankle injury. But they’ve got an incredible defense.
- Dallas Mavericks
Dallas has got the players and that’s all they need.
- Los Angeles Clippers
All the Clippers lack is a quality frontcourt heft. Their rebounding percentage has been on a downward spiral lately. But that could be fixed if they could just strengthen their offensive line.
- Philadelphia 76ers
Jimmy Butler’s groin injury has had him miss a few games, resulting in Philadelphia’s inability to secure a win. The area of their defense has also appeared to be porous causing them to lose in certain games.
- Los Angeles Lakers
With arguably the best basketball player to ever live on your team, the possibilities are limitless. The Lakers have won six of their last eight games, and at this pace, they just might end up in the top four.
- Indiana Pacers
Indiana has got one of the best shooters in NBA currently, Victor Oladipo. Oladipo’s absence may have weakened their offensive line but with his return, things are sure to go in favor of the Pacers side.
- Denver Nuggets
Unfortunately for the Nuggets side this season, three of their top men have suffered injuries. As a result of this, they may not be able to lay claim to a spot in the top three.
- Oklahoma Thunder City
Thunder City may have lost to Chicago last Friday, but that doesn’t make them any less than they are. They have a good offensive and arguably the most outstanding defensive line and record in the league currently.
- Milwaukee Bucks
At the moment, Milwaukee leads the league in net rating.
- Boston Celtics
The Celtics have an eye for the top two spots on the league but with the recent injuries sustained by key players they just might have to settle for less.
- Golden State Warriors
The Warriors have proven to be warriors indeed. Their top man Stephen Curry has been in top form lately, surpassing his career-best figures in field-goal percentage. The Raptors may be at the very top spot, but if the warriors work really hard they just might end the season on top.
- Toronto Raptors
Now, this is the most prolific team in the league this season. They are exceptional and have a comfortable spot on the league’s table. They have proven to be efficient in both areas of offense and defense. They really do deserve the number one spot in our ranking and on the league table.
