Kelly Clarkson: Nearly a Decade of Applause

It has been nearly ten years since the world first caught a glimpse of denim-clad singer Kelly Clarkson auditioning and wowing the crowd on the pilot season of American Idol in 2002. Almost a decade since then, and with the artist’s ever-trending “Kellyoke” performances, her popularity has only grown.

Born on April 24, 1982, in Fort Worth, Texas, Kelly Brianne Clarkson, more popularly known as Kelly Clarkson, is an American singer, songwriter, actress, author, philanthropist, and talk show personality. She first shot to international recognition following her appearance on American Idol Season One.

Kelly quickly eased her way into a household favorite with a powerful voice and an undeniably charismatic presence to the stage and infectious humor behind. Her charming personality and unprecedented vocal prowess propelled the singer to new heights following American Idol, catapulting her to the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 with hit debut single “A Moment Like This.”

The chart-topping track earned Kelly mounting praise and became 2002’s best-selling single—introducing her to the industry as a veritable powerhouse. This reputation was furthered by the release of her first album, Thankful, housing her debut song, which peaked at number 1 on Billboard 200.

From then on, Kelly carved a path paved with recognition. Continuously expanding her genres and exploring new themes, Kelly Clarkson ventured beyond her pop and R&B debut work and launched a pop-rock second studio album “Breakaway” in 2004.

The critically acclaimed album dominated the charts with US top-ten singles “Breakaway,” “Since U Been Gone,” “Because of You,” and “Behind These Hazel Eyes.” Kelly’s second album sold a whopping over twelve million copies worldwide and bagged the artist two well-deserved Grammy Awards, the first of many.

Kelly Clarkson’s following albums, My December, All I Ever Wanted, Stronger, Wrapped In Red, Piece by Piece, and Meaning of Life, cemented her reputation as a multi-talented singer, showing off an awe-inducing vocal range and a raw sound signature.

With each album and subsequent EP release, her string of hits grew longer, and her repertoire began to cover the genres rock, country, and soul, among others. Along with her countless accolades and top-selling masterpieces, Kelly has been remarked as “one of pop music’s greatest singers” by Billboard and the first artist to become a two-time winner of the Grammy Award for the Best Pop Vocal Album.

Her single “I Dare You,” released last year, has also been frequenting the charts, attesting to Kelly’s undying popularity. Despite its brilliance, however, the track is not why Kelly Clarkson has been the subject of headlines lately.

As the host of her Daytime Emmy Award-winning talker, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly has been on the receiving end of an unending stream of compliments. The “Kellyoke” segment of the show, where the artist covers classic favorites, has been trending since its launch, gaining awed applause for its subtle rearrangements and Kelly’s heart-stopping vocals.

Be wowed with the crowd and witness Kelly Clarkson’s jaw-dropping performances on The Kelly Clarkson Show’s accounts on YouTube and Twitter or its digital portal. To stay updated on Kelly’s future ventures, the artist is available on Instagram, YouTube, and her official website
