Nick Nwoke’s Journey From Pre-Med Student to Successful Entrepreneur

Life has a way of taking unexpected turns. For Nick Nwoke, it happened early when he changed the course of his career in college.

When Nick was seven years old, he and his mother moved to Greenville, Jersey City, after his father left them. Seeing his mother struggle financially from the move, he swore he wouldn’t follow his fathers’ steps and the would earn enough money to take care of his mom and future family.

As a young boy, Nick was gifted in the sciences. He decided to pursue a career in the medical field and fulfill his aforementioned vow. He felt that it was the best path to achieve financial stability. But deep down Nick wasn’t passionate about this career choice. He had the talent and skills in science but felt that the field was too restricting. This became more evident to him as a pre-med student in college.

While dating in college, Stephanie, Nick’s wife, was aware of his dilemma and sought a way to help him out. She looked around and found a networking event hosted near her college. Initially, Nick didn’t want to go. But Stephanie encouraged him to and Nick reluctantly went to the event.

This event would lead him to meet a man whose lifestyle and more importantly character caught Nick’s attention. This man who Nick considers his mentor and coach taught him the ropes of entrepreneurship and helped him build an online business at 19 years old.

Nine months into his business and while still attending school, Nick started making steady and growing cash flow. Nick was a sophomore in college at the time. His school was in Philadelphia far from home and he was taking out $20,000 in loans a year to continue his studies. For him, it made no sense financially. Still Nick continued attending college because everyone told him to and he thought it was the right thing to do.

Meanwhile, his mother got two minor strokes. His mother lived by herself in Greenville, Jersey City. Nick decided to take a semester off to take care of his mother.

His business, as well as his knowledge and confidence in entrepreneurship, continued to grow. Nick felt that he had discovered his passion. And it lied in business. Despite his talents in the medical field, he chose to put a halt on his studies and focus on the business.

Nick has earned enough and built an established business to be financially secure. But his mentors have taught him, “True happiness is in the process of accomplishing a worthwhile goal.” And so he continues to set and work towards new goals. He and his wife continue to pursue greater things than themselves, giving their time, money, and knowledge graciously. They serve on the Alumni Board and Council of De La Salle Academy and are generous mission supporters of Easter Seals. This nonprofit organization offers services and support to people with autism and disabilities.

For their success, Nick and Stephanie became sought out speakers through multiple industries. They have spoken to crowds all around the globe, as well as online webinars.
