Zane Hubbard started his career in the entertainment industry as a background actor. Since then, he has seen success both in front of and behind the camera. The creator of the award-winning television series Chronicles of Jessica Wu is now pursuing his dreams as a filmmaker and starting a production company.
This Walnut Creek native has always had a passion for acting and scriptwriting. Throughout his college years, Zane Hubbard performed in several plays. From there, he was featured in several films and television shows, including Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal. Zane shares, “I worked as a background actor for years. I enjoyed the work I did, but I knew I wanted to do more.” Aside from a prolific career as an actor and director, Zane has written several award-winning short films. “I realized I had a talent for scriptwriting and developing new content, and I wanted to lean into that as I progressed in my career in entertainment,” he shares.
In Chronicles of Jessica Wu, Zane Hubbard was able to display his directorial skills. His incredible eye for detail and strong work ethic has paid off, and the show is competing in the Emmys for the second time. “This year, Chronicles of Jessica Wu is competing for a Daytime Emmy. I am incredibly excited about this opportunity. Working on this show was very eye-opening, and I am very proud of what we have created,” Zane shares.
Recently, Zane Hubbard has been focused on advancing his career as a filmmaker. For him, stories are at the heart of everything he does. Zane wants to work on films that resonate with his audience. “What I want is to connect with real people. I want my work to reflect their stories and struggles,” he shares.
To make the films Zane Hubbard wanted to make, he decided to start a film production company. “Ironbeard Films was a company I created to push myself creatively. With this company, I knew I could take my skills to the next level,” this director shares. Currently, this company is focused on commercials and marketing, and Zane is working hard towards moving into feature films and more long-format storytelling.
With Zane Hubbard at the helm of Ironbeard Films, he has established a place for his company as a top content developer for corporate brands, music videos, television, film, and digital networks. Ironbeard Films has an impressive portfolio of local and global collaborations, and it is only continuing to grow.
Filming quality content is not the only thing that keeps Zane Hubbard busy. “I give back to the community through my non-profit organization. It is important to me that I share my success and help others succeed, working with them in making their lives better,” Zane shares.
Giving opportunities to otherwise underrepresented groups in the film industry is another advocacy that Zane Hubbard is committed to. “This industry and the stories we create should represent different people. But that is not always the case. This is why I give opportunities to minorities and disabled people who want to work in film. I want to create an environment that welcomes them and makes them feel seen and heard,” he shares.
When Zane Hubbard was 18, he dreamed of being an actor and director. Today, he has made his dreams a reality and has gone on to achieve things greater than he could have ever imagined. Zane Hubbard is a rising director, a show he created is competing for Daytime Emmy, and he is the CEO of a production company. Zane says, “I may have started small, but I dreamed big. And now, I have come so far.” Armed with determination, passion for storytelling, and commitment to his craft, Zane Hubbard is a filmmaker who is sure to achieve greater heights.
