To have failed somewhere, sometime in life, is just a common occurrence for most people. But rarely do you find a person rise from the ashes and propel himself into helping other like-fortuned people pick themselves up from the ground.
Blaze Goldsmith, a father, motivational speaker, personal trainer, conscious hip-hop artist, and entertainer, encountered so many failures that he piled them up and made a monument for himself out of them. To those who watched him perform, heard him speak, and to those he had worked with, Blaze Goldsmith is the epitome of success. But for those who really knew him, he is a mystery, stupefied at how this man was able to lift himself up after the blows that life has dealt on him.
Born in Miami, Florida of Jamaican descent, Blaze Goldsmith grew up around music. Blaze’s father was a DJ, and consequently, music was a significant part of his life. Not surprisingly, Blaze studied music in high school as well as in college. Blaze also then developed a love for physical fitness, pursuing a career in it with utmost passion and confidence.
Blaze started performing and releasing music under the name “John Goldsmith” or “Johnny Blaze,” all while teaching or coaching physical conditioning in various gyms around South Florida. The Great Recession then came in 2007. Aside from the debilitating effect on the economy, the recession brought Blaze down as well.
As the recession went on, Blaze was forced to dissolve the real estate company that he had built. He was also fired from gyms, and no record label would take him in. This was enough to throw him into a depression where his confidence was shattered, isolating himself and fearing public speaking. He also battled with his anger issues. Fortunately for him, his self-realization and acceptance afforded him the healing and absolution to be reborn a totally new Blaze Goldsmith.
Blaze, or Blaze the Lion, is once again active in his music career. He became part of the rap group Ice Squad under their label I.C.E. Squad Entertainment (an acronym for Integrity, Character, and Excellence) along with Rommel Tha Youngsta and Popp Da Rippa. Blaze the Lion then also developed his lyrical style to be cleaner and more uplifting, veering away from hip-hop’s typical subjects of profanity, violence, substance abuse, and promiscuity. Alongside their similar-minded record label, Blaze decided to use his platform to create a positive impact in the industry as well as society.
His altruistic mission also extends in his role as a motivational speaker, as he shares his enthusiasm and highly-animated personality with a broad audience, ranging from college kids to prison inmates. Blaze hopes that with his efforts, he could impart healing and inspiration to those that also have had less-than-ideal luck in their lives.
Continuing his dedication to fitness and wellbeing, Blaze also helps others achieve a healthier body and lifestyle through his role as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor. He rounds out his mission to shape a healthier life, physically aside from mentally, with his coaching programs in strength and conditioning, martial arts, and endurance, to name a few.
According to Blaze Goldsmith, everyone is unique in their own way. One must embrace their uniqueness by finding their purpose and executing it. Reach out to Blaze Goldsmith at www.instragram.com/blazethelion.
