Jamal recently received much acclamation for his leading role as “Devon” in this multi-award-winning short film, where the plot revolves around a single father with a troubled past who must overcome seemingly unbeatable odds to create a better life for himself and his bi-racial daughter. Aside from having the lead role in this motion picture, he also took the part of executive producer together with director and friend, Andy Cruz.
Jamal Lloyd Johnson is an artist, model, and theater performer born in Los Angeles, California. His parents are Willie Mae Johnson and Javis Johnson, who is also known as Uadilifu Kashta. Back in high school, Jamal was already a standout high school athlete. He continued his sports career when he played for Division 1 collegiate athletics.
He started with his acting career while studying at a university. Jamal starred in several local commercials and voice-overs as his initial projects in performing. Years later, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications. After earning his college degree, he studied theatre at the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. It is a 135 years old private performing arts conservatory that has become widely known as the “Cradle to the Stars” due to its stunning reputation of influential alumni. Alumni of this institution holds a total of 110 Oscar®, 318 Emmy®, and 95 Tony® nominations. Thus, it is no doubt that Jamal is set to soar higher in his career with an exemplary educational background.
From then on, his performing career soared. He earned projects where he performed in the theatre, starred in commercials, and worked on TV and in film. Some of Jamal’s recent credits are in “Just Roll With It” of entertainment giant Walt Disney and playing the lead role in the feature film “Eurotrash.” So far, Jamal’s career continues to flourish as an award-winning actor.
When asked who his target audience is, Jamal shared that so far, he wants to link with people who can help him clinch more acting projects and further his career in show business. They can be casting directors, writers, producers, agents, managers, and directors — people in the entertainment industry who will believe in his talent and facilitate more leads for him.
As an artist with North African, Caucasian, and Native American descent, Jamal is a crowd turner with an athletic build and a colossal height of 6’4. Because of his natural physique, he is often compared or mistaken to famous artist Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Mike Colter, who starred in the Marvel Universe films.
Jamal’s sports background has been the reason behind this stark feature, which landed him several projects in the industry. He has a Masters Degree in Sports and Fitness Management from The University of San Francisco. In 2001, he received a black belt in Karate from the Shinjimasu International Karate Association and competed in several martial arts tournaments across the country from 2000-2004.
