It’s often amazing how a person’s life can change when they find themselves in the right place and at the right time. Marvin Raheem is an aspiring actor who is well on his way to carving his name among Hollywood’s greatest names. However, he didn’t exactly plan to become an actor.
Marvin Raheem was born on January 28, 1991, in Baltimore, Maryland. He comes from a family where he has four brothers and five sisters. As a child, Raheem never thought about making a career as an actor, but he always knew when he watched actors that he had the potential to be a good one if he ever had the chance. However, Raheem never gave it too much thought as he lived in poverty. Surviving had to come first.
Instead, the young Raheem dreamt of riding on dirt bikes. He always envied the freedom on the road and imagined the rush of the wind as he rode. When he was in his pre-teens, Raheem started riding. Eventually, Raheem could fulfill his dream of riding a dirt bike when his older brother had a bike that Raheem would use. However, the circumstances of life limited his freedom on the road. He was even beaten up by the police over bikes, and he was also incarcerated.
Raheem’s older brother encouraged his love for bikes, and when his brother passed away, he left his dirtbike to Raheem. Marvin Raheem refused to ride the bike because he was grieving over the passing of his big brother and other friends and family. A year later, he realized that his brother would have wanted him to ride it, so he finally did.
Three weeks after that, when he was out riding in Baltimore, Marvin Raheem encountered a movie set for a film called Charm City Kings. It features professionals like Jahi Winston, Will Catlett, Meek Mill and Chino Braxton. Something came over him and prompted him to walk into the set. Raheem would hang around the set for a week and a half over his free time. He took the chance to show his skills when he overheard on the radio that it was break time. Raheem immediately jumped on his bike and drove by, performing stunts in the street. When he returned the next day, he hoped no one was mad at him and found that the people on set enjoyed his performance.
Raheem earned his break when an actor lied on his resume about riding a big dirt bike. The production panicked as the role was meant to be filmed the next day. His presence was noticed and coincidentally fit the description of the role. He was called to speak with the producer Caleeb Pinkett, the brother of actress Jada Pinkett Smith.
Caleeb had seen Raheem’s bike stunt and told him he loved it. The producer even showed a video clip to Will Smith, who shared the same sentiments. He asked Raheem to be part of the motion picture and take the role of Derrick, and the dirt bike enthusiast took the opportunity in a heartbeat as it allowed him to showcase his skills. Despite having no prior training, Raheem was praised for his natural ability to act.
Initially, Marvin Raheem worked in construction and home improvement jobs with the hopes of saving money and starting a dirt bike training school for kids. However, living expenses put him to a slow start. With his newfound love for acting and opportunities opening up, Marvin Raheem is excited for his future as he hopes to find a good agent/management and more roles in films with lots of endorsements.
Marvin Raheem’s filmography is available on IMDB. He also provides updates of his career on Instagram and Twitter.
