All music artists aspire to go on tour to promote their music and connect with their fans. The same aspiration was true for Jay Chavez, who recently established the Jay Chavez Band after 35 years of performing alongside some of the industry’s biggest names. The pandemic, however, forced them to forego their summer tour. Despite the major setback, Jay opted to release his first single from his album Plain Brown Wrapper.
Plain Brown Wrapper is believed to be the biggest project of Jay’s life, and the first single “All By Ourselves” is one of several songs in the album that will showcase his unique perspective when it comes to songwriting and music composing. Jay is in a new season in his career after having been used to working on the sidelines, playing and singing for other big names in the music industry. The promising artist believes his time has finally come to show the world his passion for music and innate gifts.
“It was time to stop sitting on it and give it a chance to become something on its own,” Jay explains.
His vast experience playing rock music, alternative, ballads, country, and jazz, to name a few, makes him a very versatile artist with an uncommon and superb taste in music.
Jay Chavez is well-known for being able to play almost any instrument after dedicating most of his adult life to his music career. For the most part of his career as a musician and singer, Jay was content with his projects involving other artists. When no one was looking, however, he would write down his own songs but would set them aside, believing that it was not yet the perfect time to put them out there.
Plain Brown Wrapper is the fulfillment of Jay’s lifelong dream to share his music with the world. He was very hands-on in making the album, from writing the lyrics to making sure that every instrument contributed adequately to the theme and feel of each song, as he composed all instrumental parts as well. Every song in the upcoming album tells of an experience that Jay went through in life, making them very relatable and original. Having poured out his soul on every song in the album, Jay is not letting the pandemic dampen his dreams. Instead, he is choosing to rise above it and still make his songs available on popular streaming platforms such as Spotify and iTunes.
When Jay is not touring or recording a new song, he is tending to the animals and needs of his horse ranch in the mountains of Northern California, where he lives with his wife and mother. Being on the ranch allows Jay to destress and relieve himself of the pressures of going on tour or composing new music.
At present, Jay Chavez and the rest of his band are working on their second album that will be released hopefully next year in 2021.
