The most impressive of artists in the highly saturated music industry are those who can wield the power of songs to impact lives and make a difference. In the case of Michael Jefferson, better known as evrYwhr, his ability to serve as a beacon of hope and send across a message of love and healing to listeners worldwide has allowed him to take center stage.
The Grammy Award-winning songwriter, singer, spoken wordsmith, and producer born in Port Huron, Michigan, knew from the get-go that he would follow a musician’s journey. His love for this particular art started at the age of five and would blossom over the years as he immersed himself in the sounds of artists like Curtis Mayfield, Michael Jackson, and New Edition. At age nine, evrYwhr took his first step toward his dreams, letting his voice be heard as he sang. Five years later, he would showcase his potential as a future powerhouse by writing his first song.
evrYwhr, widely acclaimed for his eclectic brand of R&B and Pop, holds a degree in Sales and Business Marketing from Western Michigan University. However, the joy that came hand in hand with this academic achievement paled in comparison with his burning desire to establish his name as a songwriter and recording artist. In 2010, he made a bold move to Los Angeles, where he wasted no time getting acclimated to the big city by networking and meeting influential people.
His passion-fueled efforts, along with his talent, allowed evrYwhr to secure collaborations with Pop artists like Leona Lewis, Mila J, and Aaron Carter. The self-starter also had the opportunity to co-write two songs, “Confessions” and “Violence,” for the 2013 Grammy Award-winning album Gravity performed by Gospel rapper Lecrae.
With every release, evrYwhr continues to impress both industry authorities and his peers. His latest single, “Letter to the White House,” which was released last October 16, 2020, clearly demonstrated the heights that this must-watch artist is bound to reach. It became the leading soundtrack to numerous voting campaigns surrounding the 2020 US Presidential Election and received acclaim from the Democratic National Committee (DNC), Harvard University, and Harlem Chamber of Commerce. In addition, it is currently on rotation on MTV and BET.
On top of setting his eyes on the summit of the music scene, evrYwhr has also aimed for the spotlight in another industry. He recently shot the pilot episode in Cambodia for a television show. Tentatively titled “Destination evrYwhr,” it is a network show that will focus on his travels and the connections he builds with different cultures using music’s universal language.
With big plans for the future, evrYwhr is on a roll. This purpose-driven personality is set to engage in more initiatives that will serve communities. He has partnered with the Recording Academy to donate a percentage of royalty proceeds to Music Cares, an entity that supports artists who are struggling because of the pandemic.
This February 12, 2021, the artist will be releasing his follow-up single, “PositiveVibes,” which is already slated to be the new anthem for the year. The music video can be seen on YouTube here and on MTV and BET.
When asked about the intention of the song, he stated, “The intention that went into the creation of Positive Vibes was for it to be a reminder to myself and others that the utopia we seek exists within. At any given moment, and during any circumstance, we can choose gratitude for the experience of life and ultimately vibrate higher.”
He is also slated to release his debut album in the early Summer of 2021.
Highly driven to offer comfort and solace through his discography, evrYwhr is currently carving a path toward the summit of the music industry. Considering his arsenal of skills and passion for the craft, it would not be a surprise if he manages to reach great heights in the coming months.
