Geez Da Gawd: Self-Made Artist Poised for Success

Rising hip-hop singer and songwriter Geez Da Gawd sets the bar high when it comes to being a self-made artist. His determination to become a well-known name in the hip-hop scene around the country in the coming years is compelling him to produce the best songs even if he has to do it alone. Without fear, the 28-year-old artist from Baltimore is gearing up for what looks like a promising future for him in the music industry.

Geez Da Gawd started producing his music five years ago, although he has always been inclined toward music even as a young child. He writes his own songs, mixes them, produces them, and is also the one responsible for marketing them. Despite the load of work these entail, he finds it very fulfilling to be able to exercise his freedom when it comes to coming up with authentic materials.

“I wanted something I could call my own. Originality and authenticity goes a long way, and I’ve always had my own way of doing things. So basically I just needed to give my originality a name, it was always there. I wanted to have something that my people would be proud to see and hear,” Geez Da Gawd shares.

Serious about his craft, Geez Da Gawd launched his own recording label known as Prominence Records LLC. What was initially created to sign only himself as a hip-hop artist eventually attracted other rappers to avail of its services. One of his greatest motivations in creating the studio is to also have the liberty to work on his music anytime he wanted without waiting for the sound engineers from other studios to be available. It also means thousands of dollars in savings for his operations.

At present, Prominence Records has signed up a couple of gifted artists and their music will be released in the coming months. Hip-hop artist Yahboy Soda will be the first artist to be released by Geez Da Gawd under Prominence Records.

Inspired by the unique songs by different artists that include Tee Grizzly, Peezy, Babyface Ray, Lil Dirk, Party Next Door, Future, and Young Thug, Geez Da Gawd chose to come up with sounds that are uncommon to differentiate his music and make them authentically his. The result was a well-received single when it was released in 2018. When the official music video for “Little Brother” launched on YouTube seven months ago, it attracted more than 148k views — a very rare and impressive achievement for someone who received so little help in making it happen.

Nonetheless, Geez Da Gawd is even more motivated to continue producing his own songs and taking care of publishing technicalities. In time, he is confident that he will easily master the other needed skills to successfully launch a full album. Inspired by the stories of fellow artists G Herbo, Rio Da Yung OG, Sada Baby, Icewear Vezzo, Veeze, and Big Sean, the up-and-coming artist is not giving up on his dream of one day becoming a famous music artist. By staying relevant, relatable, and original, he knows his music will continue to attract music fans around the globe.

“The music you hear is based on my life. I talk about what happened or is happening, but they already know that. New listeners may need to buckle up for the ride. My music is raw and uncut,” says Geez Da Gawd.

In the past few years, Geez Da Gawd has accomplished a considerable number of feats for himself to include running a recording studio called Prominence Records LLC. His songs have also been featured on 92Q Jams Baltimore and 93.9 WKYS DC. While he understands that he still has a long way to go before he finally reaches his ultimate dream, he is willing to wait patiently while he is perfecting his craft as an artist.
