Sometimes, it only takes a single encounter for everything to fall into place. When Chris Dobry received his first bass guitar at 14 years old, he fell in love. Live music became a massive part of his life, and he became so immersed in the music scene that he and his group of friends were responsible for preparing the high school auditorium for each year’s battle of the bands.
Several years later and he has built his life around music. Now, as the proprietor of Stryker Records, he has built his life and career around music. Through Stryker, Chris promotes live concerts, manages artists, and releases music that reaches audiences across the globe. His diverse taste in music spills over to the production as well, and the events it organizes are in varying genres of rock, country, and hip-hop.
Today, Stryker Records works with a powerful lineup of extraordinarily skilled and influential bands such as Jaime Fontaine & The Label. This band has been launched to the #20 spot on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Indicator Chart, and #7 on the Concrete/Foundations Chart with their single titled Save Your Life. The band is exceptionally talented by itself, but it was thanks to the collaboration of Chris Dobry with Holly Hutchison of AnRGirl that they were able to shine brightly.
Chris has brought Stryker Records to a considerable level of success and has built a reputation of excellence in the music industry. It had not been easy, but the journey from that 14-year-old boy with his shiny, first bass guitar to the man responsible for the growth of many artists signed under his label is an incredibly fulfilling one.
While music had been a significant part of his life, the owner of Stryker Records has experience in the field of engineering. In addition to this, he is a military veteran as well. Despite not having a dime to his name, Chris started the record company in 1997. Since he had been involved in a few events organizing stints in high school, he had the bright idea of putting together a battle of the bands in his hometown Green Bay, Wisconsin.
To this effort, he secured an interview on the local CBS station through a series of press releases. The interview was aired on the same night as the Grammy’s Awards, drawing the public’s attention to the event. The event showcased many of the local talents that Chris Dobry and his record company would later have the pleasure of working with, but the best part was that the event managed to generate enough to fund the launch of Stryker Records.
With its track record of successful events, live concerts, and collaborations, Chris and his record company continue to grow and rise to greater heights, bringing all its affiliated artists. “A strong foundation at home is the key to success in business,” Chris says when asked about his outlook, “in the next five years, I see myself married to my beautiful fiancé, Sarah. The happiness of a good home keeps my mind clear and keeps me driven to continually improve upon everything I do.”
