Considering the current events happening in our society where there is an increasing number of boys involved in senseless violence, surging cases of school suspension and expulsion, and a decreasing figure of young men attending colleges, something is definitely wrong with our young men today. So, the question remains, how do we teach our boys to be principled good men in our society? The pursuit of self-worth is the key to manhood. Guidance of good men such as King Randall, of course, helps.
King Randall saw how vital having a father or a father figure in a young boy’s life to grow as a responsible man. The lack of guidance can often lead our boys astray. Understanding to be a good man – responsible, determined, and hard-working, and one who will someday be a provider and protector becomes a hard concept for them. King Randall knows this all too well enough to start his own youth organization called The X for Boys.
This 21-year-old young man, born and raised in Albany, Georgia, is the organization’s founder. The organization’s core purpose is rooted in its motto, “Let US Make Man” which teaches boys how to become good men in society. With Randall’s guidance, boys are taught how to work on cars, how to work on houses, how to tie a tie, how to do a job interview, how to write a resume, how to grow your own food, how to work as a team, how to make legal money, etc. At present, it has become a safe space for young boys who’ve led a troubled life to renew themselves by attending the organization’s various programs.
“I saw the need for a mindset changing in our young men. Many people complain about our young men and what they were doing, but how could they tell them that their lifestyle is a sin when you aren’t offering new ways to win. I decided to SHOW and not tell our young men that there is another way to not just survive but THRIVE as a young man,” the founder shared.
His dedication to making an impact on the boys’ lives is enough to describe how good of a man he is. It even came to a point he funded his organization’s programs and activities straight from his own pocket. Moreover, Randall even opened his home for the young boys because he believes having a different environment positively influences when they see other boys are doing well. Randall also places importance on educating the boys to read. By reading, the boys develop their literacy and their characters as well. So Randall made it to a point to read with every week.
Today King Randall sees the fruits of his labor. With his programs, he prevented young men from going back to juvenile jail. There was never a boy, who has been taught by King, returned to their old ways. On top of that, the X for Boys has a reading comprehension rate of 86%.
At the moment, Randall is continuing to raise awareness among young boys and preparing the opening of his boarding school called The Life Preparatory School for Boys. Ever since he has been raising funds across the country to help save young men like himself.
