A dreamer in her own right, Tiffany Smith started with the desire to do something big in life. As the youngest of three children and the first in her family to pursue a college education, she began her journey with dreams of becoming a forensic psychologist.
While earning her degree in Psychology, Tiffany worked part-time at the H&R block to cover her expenses. Despite the hectic schedule, the passionate student pushed on to make her dream come true, but fate had something else intended for the future entrepreneurial powerhouse.
During her senior year of college, Tiffany Smith was called into the guidance counselor’s office for the obligatory career talk. “My counselor told me I had a better chance of being an astronaut launched into space than being a forensic psychologist. She said the demand for that job just wasn’t there and that I was wasting my time,” she recalls.
The discouraging meeting left Tiffany out of sorts. Unsure about the now cloudy future, she finished her bachelor’s degree and went on to do taxes seasonally. She eventually landed a job working for a CPA, and that was when a new dream began to take shape. The job was a perfect fit.
Her experience at the job, building her name in the business and rendering exceptional service, helped Tiffany Smith realize that that was the career she wanted and that she would continue under it—but this time, under her name.
“I wanted to create a business that truly helped the community and provide them with financial resources that allows them to better take care of their families.” An introduction to a pastor after church service would prove heaven-sent.
The pastor owned a storefront and offered to rent the building to her at an amazing price. It would be the biggest step that Tiffany would take for her dream. Afraid and inexperienced with only two weeks before the next tax season, Tiffany hesitated. She had no knowledge of running a tax office or managing employees, but this was what she had wanted for such a long time. With that on her mind, Tiffany Smith gathered all her courage and leaped.
In January 2016, she opened her first tax office. The launch of her venture, Dream Team Tax Pros, LLC, was not all smooth-sailing, but Tiffany braved through the rough seas. Her hard work and drive helped the budding entrepreneur expand her office to three different locations and build an expert team able to satisfy over seven hundred clients around the metro Detroit area.
“Our company is dedicated to giving our clients the best tax experience possible,” she shares. “Our tax preparers are educated in current tax laws to deliver a quality return.”
Determined to make timely and accurate tax services available to everyone in the country, Tiffany Smith is working on opening more Dream Team Tax Pros, LLC offices nationwide. Her next stop? Atlanta.
