The digital market is a fickle thing, but it has become a pretty successful piece of technology over the years, paving the way for more blockchain tech to permeate the market. NFTs are prime examples of the subject, and despite not being around for very long, their existence has shaken up the metaverse and its long-time inhabitants.
NFTs or non-fungible tokens are technically unique, one-of-a-kind digital assets that can take on various forms like artwork, photos, videos, and so much more. They stand out because they are always non-interchangeable, giving every NFT in the market a distinct style that no other NFT can ever copy. NFTs are stored in a digital ledger called blockchain, where proof of ownership of a certain NFT is also filed. Suffice to say, NFTs have fundamentally altered the market for digital assets. Although its existence sparks numerous debates, many brands continue to build their unique NFT empire in the hopes of making it big in the sphere, all while integrating a piece of humanitarian cause – at least that’s what SurfPunks has in store for its holders.
SurfPunks is a project for the people and the ocean, creating a total of 500 radical little dudes that showcase the founders’ creativity and some of society’s most iconic figures. SurfPunks are part of a small, tight-knit group like an actual surfer community. Owning a SurfPunk NFT allows holders access to the exclusive group where plenty of activities are happening, as well as an investment that will only grow over time.
One event will be held in Waco, Texas, on March 21st at the BSR WavePool and Resort. This is an exclusive day for holders to surf on the man-made wave pool, experience live music by a special guest, eat food, and engage in NFT chat. Holders will also have a chance to meet some of their favorite surfers and icons.
Through SurfPunks, the team also gets to showcase their philanthropic side. “All crypto talk and our rad little SurfPunks aside, we want you to know that we will be donating a portion of all the proceeds to the Mauli Ola Foundation. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing hope and confidence to individuals living with genetic diseases. Harnessing the ocean’s healing powers, they introduce surfing and ocean-based activities as natural therapies. May the waves heal us all,” the group said.
The founders have also disclosed that the ten percent of tax from its purchase is distributed to several other charitable foundations, the community DAO (decentralized autonomous organization), and the corporate reserve for operations and marketing initiatives. SurfPunks remains a community-owned and run NFT brand through its DAO system, where its future ultimately rests on the holders.
Of course, their philanthropic ways are not the only thing that makes them stand out as they also continue to give back to holders of their NFTs. Besides being adorable pixelated art, SurfPunks continue to serve as assets to its holders, providing them with rad deals, including access to a day at the BSR Surf Resort. In addition, owning a SurfPunk also gives holders numerous discounts and giveaways from many unique brands and happenings.
All 500 SurfPunks have been bought on their website, but aspiring holders of the rad NFTs can purchase them at OpenSea.io. There’s also a second collection of SurfPunks in the works. This collection will prepare SurfPunks to live in the metaverse and will provide much more utility in the digital space. They are also gearing up for big partnerships.
