Art, regardless of how it is embodied and manifested, serves a purpose beyond providing entertainment. Aside from offering people a way to express themselves, it is utilized to produce thoughts, spark conversations, and build communities. And this connection that can be bridged among seemingly different individuals through art lies as the driving force behind the work of Cade Kegerreis and the establishment of DVLVD Apparel.
A graduate of Baylor University, this Texas native holds a degree in studio art and has been making a mark as a full-time artist after graduating in 2017. Through a wide range of creative jobs, he was able to make ends meet and build a nest to pursue a path where he would go all-out on creating his own work.
This 23-year-old personality is proud to be holding his debut solo exhibition that is currently wrapping up at downtown Waco gallery Cultivate 712. On view until September 26, Cade’s gallery showing is an impressive addition to his portfolio of accomplishments at a young age. And along with the launching of the exhibit is the release of his clothing brand, DVLVD Apparel.
As an extension of the show and in alignment with its themes, DVLVD — or Devolved: Unity through Evolution, Diversity, and Connection — aims to promote unity and acceptance. It recognizes how shared understanding among people has fundamentally devolved, leading to conflicts and division. Believing that the reconciliation of differences is integral to achieving unity, this brand is on a mission to raise awareness on societal issues and allow people to see that all these pressing problems only highlight the fact that everyone shares the same needs.
DVLVD boasts an inventory of not only apparel items but also incredible art. Available through its shop, these offerings are designed to spark conversations and provoke thought. More than anything else, the brand is fueled by the desire to stand as a go-to provider of wearable art and a facilitator of productive discussions on sociology, religion, and evolution.
Cade’s art series and the first line of DVLVD Apparel are bound to become the seeds that would grow into a much larger brand. With his artistry and purpose-driven initiatives, this rising artist hopes to cement a reputable position within the industry and send across his message of unity and acceptance to diverse audiences.
In the coming years, aside from expanding DVLVD as a brand, Cade Kegerreis plans to extend his current art series and develop new ones, infusing his vision into all of his efforts. More exhibitions and gallery shows can also be expected from this passion-driven entrepreneur. Moreover, he intends to paint murals marked with his personal direction and style and continue utilizing his abilities to internalize the external world, producing work that speaks to people in some way.
Focusing beyond appeal and aesthetics, Cade Kegerreis aims to grab hold of opportunities to emphasize the values DVLVD stands for. And he vows to remain committed to bringing understanding and knowledge through art.
