Surviving domestic violence showed author Teniecka Drake her purpose in life. After her painful experience, she knew she had to share her story and how her faith in God helped her survive. To inspire survivors of domestic abuse, she released her beautiful book, The Gift of Finding God’s Love: Guilt and Shame Turned into My Shine.
The book reveals a true-to-life story of survival. It is a narrative of the small and big tragedies and victories that the author has experienced in her journey in life. Her poetic passages in the book show readers how faith and commitment to God can save a life. The author shows many ways to find God’s love. She also shares how to lean on God as we go through trials and tribulations in life. The book serves as a personal testimony that God is always there for everyone, especially in the deepest and darkest moments of life.
As a United States Airforce veteran who is 100% disabled, life has been very challenging for her. She is a mother of four children, two of whom have special needs. She is also a survivor of domestic violence. Indeed, Teniecka has gone through seemingly insurmountable challenges, but nothing can shake her faith in God. Through this commitment, she finds new hope and new ways to survive life every day.
She is also a public speaker who is dedicated to lift the spirits of her audience and inspire them in life. Currently, she handles two podcasts: God’s Gift Through His Word, where she gets in touch with listeners to talk about God’s love and his words, and Loving Arm For Families or LAFF, Inc., a podcast dedicated to helping veterans, families needing support for special needs, and survivors of domestic violence. Teniecka is also working on her next book, The Gift of Finding God’s Love: Being Brave and Showing Love.
This brave woman continues sharing her advocacies in life even as she faced her biggest struggle in life as of today when DCFS took her children from her. Still, she pushes herself to become better day by day.
She is committed to helping others find love for themselves. She strives to help others realize that they are worthy of love. For Teniecka, people should not settle for less in love and life. She urges people to gather enough courage to remove themselves from toxic relationships and environments.
As a domestic violence survivor herself, she knows the struggles of the people who find themselves in this situation. She knows it is not easy to remove themselves from the situation, but she also knows that it is not impossible. It can be done. To survive whatever situation with the help of one’s relentless faith in God is indeed possible. This is what she hopes to share with her readers and podcast listeners.
