It’s often very difficult for creatives to find work in the field full-time, especially on the visual side. There are often many things to consider when pursuing one’s passion, like bringing food on the table, rent, bills, and whatnot. Creatives are often stuck in a dilemma to pursue art or earn for their living. Photographer Devin Williams went through a similar struggle before taking the risk to start his brand, Dwillmadeit.
Dwillmadeit is a brand that features Devin Williams’ works as he showcases the beauty in nude photography. His works don’t just end with photographs as he also delves into videography. Williams goes all out with his works, emphasizing his models’ curves and features, earning him a reputation in the photography world as one of the rising stars in the visual arts.
Devin Williams showed his creativity when he was young, constantly occupied in his own world, as he was hunched over a notebook and drawing anything that came to his head. He has always shown interest in arts, and when he grew older, so did his interest. Williams decided to take on a new challenge, and in 2017, he bought his first camera.
Without the proper training that others had, Williams took it upon himself to learn photography and videography basics. He would spend hours watching videos on the essential lessons like the do’s and don’ts and getting the right settings to get the tone he was aiming for. It didn’t take long for Williams to fall in love with the craft as he contemplated making a career out of it. However, he knew that he still needed to get by.
Devin Williams found a nine-to-five job that kept the food on the table and supported himself to save up and get the equipment he needed. He would do photography part-time whenever he could. Eventually, Williams was able to save enough to get everything he needed. The young photographer quit his job and took a leap of faith as he began a career in photography full time. Since that jump, he never looked back.
He knew that the photography industry would be a competitive one, and he would need to make his mark, so Williams took his brand Dwillmadeit to incorporate videography. His subjects often include women of all colors, heights, and shapes contorting to showcase their flexibility, emphasizing the beauty of their curves as Williams adjusts the colors to fit into a dark and moody tone despite the brightness of the setting. His works have garnered the interest of many models who have contacted him to collaborate as he brings a different style to photography.
Dwillmadeit gave Williams more recognition and a growing following on his social media accounts on Instagram and Twitter. He founded another brand called Wet Muse. Still following his style, Williams changed his approach by making Wet Muse a water-based photography brand that features models in pools or other bodies of water and more products.
Devin Williams’s pursuit of his passion proved to be one of the greatest decisions of his life. With the success of Dwillmadeit, Williams is hopeful that he will be able to get his own space where he can work and shoot models and gather other photographers and creators.
